FAZUNCHAR 2020

“Fazunchar will be always a ‘to make’ for Figueiró dos Vinhos and its people. A party built by different types of Art, in constant dialogue between them, with this community and territory. “

It was with this statement that FAZUNCHAR presented itself to the world in 2019, assuming immediately and unquestionably itself as a strong and credible brand, capable of "improving the experience of the public space, reinforcing the emotional ties of the inhabitants with its traditions and its past, and building a future grounded in the new visitors/tourists who come to this territory to make and who contribute to the sustainability of our lands”.

With an identical mission, FAZUNCHAR returned between 15 and 23 August 2020, already in the midst of a pandemic crisis, with the commitment and increased urgency to guarantee access to Art and Culture.

We reinforced the presence and occupation of public space, understood as the most democratic stage to exhibit unique and renewed views on cultural goods, heritage and everything that is unique in this territory.

This 2nd edition of FAZUNCHAR once again integrated various areas and artistic expressions, in constant dialogue between them, with the community and the territory and precisely, with regard to these last 2 dimensions, due to the way in which the 1st edition was received, it was demanded the 'widening' of its area of action to each of the parishes (Aguda, Arega and Campelo), which would naturally generate the 'Rota dos Fregueses', a guided tour that leads us to know the work carried out at the parishes of Figueiró dos Vinhos.

This visit, together with the three carried out at the village of Figueiró, counted in this edition with more than 130 participants who, in addition to inhabitants, received visitors from neighboring districts, which proves once again the recognition of this event.

Among the more than 30 activities presented, we can highlight:

• the Sound Route, which added content to the already existing art tour, allowing any visitor, at their own pace and in total safety, to delight in this musical proposal;
• the presentation of the result of Nuno Sarmento's artistic residency in drawing, held in 2019, which occupied space inside and outside, allowing the inhabitants to discover themselves and visitors to get to know this territory;
• the peculiar work of British artist Helen Bur, whose 'little people' generated a rush in the center of Figueiró dos Vinhos, as a treasure hunt, promoting the discovery and/or rediscovery of the streets and alleys of this location;
• community action for the elderly, the printing of a special edition of the ‘Quarantine Workbook’, which was distributed to all social entities in this territory;
• the unique and memorable moment that we experienced as a result of the artistic residency in music, with Surma and Tamara Alves, bringing life to the historic center of this town.

With much more to be highlighted, we believe that in this 2nd edition it was once again possible to strongly contribute to the renewal of Figueiró dos Vinhos' projection on a local and national scale, as a producer and stage of artistic and cultural activity, (now) in contemporary times.
