Brazil
Giulia Yoshimura (Brazil, 1997), who lives in Portugal and is of Japanese descent, has a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), and currently holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Fine Arts in Porto. She has been involved with art since childhood, but her professional career began in 2015, when she found her inspiration in flora, thus immersing her production in botanical art.
Her work seeks, through an attentive look at the peculiarities of plant morphology and physiology, to recall the importance of plants and flowers, and their relationship with human beings. Her work in painting covers different scales, from watercolors and canvases to large murals. Growing up in a gray city brought with it the need to represent greenery in the urban environment and to explore her painting for the public space.
Currently her research is expanding to stained glass art and all the possibilities of this material, incorporating transparency and light into her work.
