A Avó Veio Trabalhar (Grandma Came To Work) is a project of learning, sharing and empowerment which through traditional workmanship and design, increases our seniors power of intervention in society.
A Avó Veio Trabalhar is a creative space for handmade co-creation for people over 65 years old. It started in 2014 with 12 Grandparents and in 2019 it counts with more than 70.
In 2015, Time Out Lisboa, awarded it the "Best Idea of the Year" award and in 2016 the initiative received an award from the Iberian-American Design Biennial.
The project makes custom products, develops collections of home decor, workshops, team building actions and guided tours for tourists. Grandmothers participate in music, art and culture festivals, travel around the country and abroad.
