FAZUNCHAR 2021

After two hugely successful editions that generated dozens of new public art works and the attribution of the EFFE quality label * that distinguishes festivals across Europe, not only for its vast artistic wealth, but also for the involvement of and in the community where they operate. ", FAZUNCHAR returned to Figueiró dos Vinhos for its 3rd edition. That once again assumes itself as a "to do" for Figueiró dos Vinhos and its people and mainly as an experience of sharing, meeting and of (re)discovery between people, art and territory.

And it is precisely at the intersection of these 3 dimensions that the programme, through the more than 30 activities it presented, proposed a continuity of this 'doing' for the people and for this unique territory.

The public space, the streets and alleys of Figueiró dos Vinhos, on a broader scale, were once again the stage of performance, this democratic stage that fascinates us and where we followed artists from numerous disciplines in action, whether in the execution of mural paintings, installations, concerts, or the wandering required of those who performed the drawing, music, photography and video residencies.

The same wandering, always necessary for the recognition and discovery that we propose to residents and visitors, edition after edition.

The group of artists that participated in this 3rd edition of FAZUNCHAR, once again included national and international artists. We could highlight each one of them, because their work was unique in observing and working on this territory, but I am just referring to the pleasure of having with us the historic Isaac Cordal, the Argentine Bosoletti, holder of a unique aesthetic, just like the artists Elisa Capdevila , Perrine Honoré and Mariana Duarte Santos, Fred from Orelha Negra and many other projects, who was in artistic residency, as well as the Portuguese illustrator Francis.co, who we challenged to come here to draw this territory with his eyes and unique style, as José Malhoa and his contemporaries once did.

After this edition, we will always have to highlight an action that proved to be key to another successful edition, in addition to the pivotal workshops, essential guided tours and the traditional picnic, the Jornal do Cordel (Twine Newspaper). This recovery of a local tradition, updated daily and exposed in the most central point of the village of Figueiró dos Vinhos, revealed to be a new and essential form of communication, with daily feedback from the community, through dozens of messages of thanks and wishes for continuity .
