RUAS D’ARTE

The curatorial proposal for the Ruas d'Arte festival reflects an understanding of Art and, in particular, Art created in public spaces, as a powerful tool for social and cultural promotion and development, also with a proven capacity to configure new points of tourist interest for a territory.

This understanding was translated into a proposal that seeks a single reading, where the municipalities of Lousã, Miranda do Corvo and Vila Nova de Poiares, present themselves as a whole that supports this new artistic and tourist itinerary.

A script that results from the challenge launched to a group of artists, carefully selected to respond to a desired heterogeneity in terms of recognition and gender equality, also aiming to mirror and celebrate the vitality and heterogeneous richness of national creative talent.

The challenge of carefully observing this singular territory(ies), its unique identity, which is multiplied by numerous cultural assets, whether historical, archeological, architectural, linguistic, documentary, natural, artistic, ethnographic, social, among others, it resulted in the embodiment of these in new values of memory, authenticity, originality, rarity and exemplarity, through different conceptual, aesthetic, plastic and visual reflections.

The result, which we can find today in these Lands of Chanfana, is thus assumed as a route and script for the (re)discovery of these territories and an ambitious and renewed sense of belonging and care for what is ours.
